Text: 1 Kings 18:30-38
The challenges of life are so many that it is difficult to exhaust the list; threat of sickness, poverty, bareness, traditions, death, and so on. Due to these challenges, some people are often tempted to doubt the ability of god to deliver them from certain challenges. No doubt, many weak Christians even compromise in some ways to solve their problems. However, it takes a soul that has had a personal encounter with God to hold true to Him, even when the challenges seem humanly insurmountable.
In our text, Elijah always demonstrated some great and timeless principles for all true believers to follow, especially when we need to stand for the truth in times of persecution. God send down fire from heaven for Elijah. He will help us accomplish whatever he commands us to do. The proof may not be as dramatic for us as it was with Elijah, but God will definitely make resources available to us in creative ways to accomplish His purposes. He will give us the wisdom to raise a family, the courage to take a stand for the truth, and the means to provide help for someone in need. Like Elijah, we can have faith that whatever God commands us to do; He will provide what we need to carry it through. But are you qualified to say to God, ‘Answer me, O Lord?’
Prayer: Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications. In your faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness grant my heart disease. In the name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
